Fun in the Sun with my Sons & Salsa Music

Dancing the Day Away

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) recently held a Salsa Music Festival hosted by the school’s popular weekend Latin radio programming on 88.9 fm KXLU, Alma del Barrio.

Liz Ramos, a single mom from Claremont, drove her sons to enjoy the festivities, which took place on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

Besides enjoying a picnic in the ample LMU lawn, Liz encouraged her sons to take to the dance floor and enjoy the music by Sally Hansen and her Latin Jazz Band.

Liz's sons, a charming 6-year-old named Franco and an inquisitive pre-teen named Ivan, both took turns swirling and dancing with their mom.

Being a single mom is not easy for Liz, who works as a registered nurse at a local school district. But allowing the joys of a festive, musical outing in sunny SoCal create memories for her sons was important for her.

“I love my sons and I want to show them there’s plenty of reasons to be happy and excited about life,” she said.
